This course is designed to support students to:
Make healthy living choices and/or address potential issues such as:
- Being able to identify and apply simple first response treatments to common health problems
- Understand basic nutrition and use this knowledge to plan healthy meals for self and others.
The course will also assist students to develop knowledge of and skills in identifying housing/accommodation options and basic maintenance to maintain accommodation. This will also include an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as tenants.
Other units within the course will assist the students to develop their independence through developing skills and knowledge in areas such as:
- Understand and select appropriate technology for personal use including mobile phones, debit cards and applications
- Using technology to download and complete electronic forms
- Understanding how to protect one’s identity online
- Identify potential scams and/or unsafe online practices
- Being able to read and identify simple, familiar spatial information
- Follow oral instructions up to two steps
- Communicate oral instructions up to two steps
- Be able to write simple spatial information
- Be able to develop a personal budget using pre-populated spreadsheets
- Implement and monitor a personal budget making adjustments as necessary
- Select appropriate measuring equipment for a specific task
- Measure items (including food) to meet needs (ie recipies)
The course will provide participants with a range of knowledge, and skills such as:
- Basic fundamental knowledge and understanding of the skills needed to live independently
- Basic skills to participate in everyday life
- Cognitive and communication skills to receive, pass on and recall information in a narrow range of areas
- Technical skills involving the basic use of technology appropriate to living independently.
The application of these knowledge and skills are focused on a student becoming independent.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals with the skills and knowledge to perform in a range of varied activities in the creative industries where there is a defined range of contexts. It applies to work in different work environments that include entertainment customer service, staging, television and radio production, broadcasting production, lighting and sound, theatre, scenery and set construction, screen and media, and film production. Individuals complete tasks with limited complexity and with required actions clearly defined.

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid
FirstAid
HLTAID009 describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
HLTAID011 describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
HLTAID012 describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.
